Volvo Group and Daimler Truck have officially launched a new joint venture called Coretura AB. This venture will focus on building a standardised, software-defined platform for commercial vehicles like trucks and buses.
Based in Sweden, Started in June 2025
Coretura is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. It began operations in June 2025 after receiving the necessary approvals from regulators. The move follows agreements signed by both companies in October 2024.
Team and Leadership
At launch, Coretura has about 50 employees. It is expected to grow slowly over time. Johan Lundén, who previously worked with Volvo Group, has been named the CEO. The leadership team includes people from both Volvo and Daimler.
Developing a Common Operating System
Coretura's main task is to develop a shared operating system and software platform. This will allow trucks and buses to receive updates over the air and run services based on apps. The venture will also take care of sourcing powerful control units for data processing.

Coretura is expected to release its first software products before the end of this decade.

Daimler Truck CEO Karin Rådström said this is a clear step toward focusing more on software in the commercial vehicle industry. Volvo Group CEO Martin Lundstedt said Coretura fits into Volvo’s goal to improve connectivity and efficiency.
Still Competitors, Open to Partners
Although they are working together on Coretura, Volvo and Daimler will still compete in the market with their own trucks and services. The venture is also open to working with suppliers and other partners.
