Tata Motors has secured orders for over 5,000 buses and bus chassis from State Transport Undertakings across India, including models like Cityride, Starbus, and Magna, supporting public transport fleet expansion.

The orders come from transport corporations in Maharashtra, Gujarat, North Western Karnataka, Telangana, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Kerala. The Department of Road Transport (Haryana Roadways) and the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking have also placed orders. These orders include a mix of fully built buses and bus chassis, designed for various public transport applications.
State transport agencies continue to invest in fleet renewal and capacity expansion. This procurement aims to meet the rising demand for public mobility services across both urban and intercity routes. The orders cover models from Tata Motors' bus portfolio, such as Cityride, Starbus, Starbus Prime, Magna, and chassis variants including LPO 1618, LPO 1622, and LPO 1822. These vehicles serve intercity, staff, and city bus operations.
Anand S, Vice President and Head of Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business at Tata Motors, stated that the orders reflect ongoing demand from public transport operators for Tata Motors' mobility solutions. He emphasized the importance of bus-based transit in India's transport network.
Tata Motors supports its commercial passenger vehicle portfolio with Sampoorna Seva 2.0, a vehicle lifecycle management program. This program offers maintenance support, turnaround time assurance, genuine parts availability, and breakdown assistance. The company maintains a service network with over 4,500 sales and service touchpoints nationwide.
These recent orders underscore the commitment of state transport corporations to improve and modernize public mobility services. Tata Motors continues to play a significant role in supplying vehicles for India's public transport sector.
