Madhya Pradesh is launching a major initiative to make the state self-reliant in pulse production. The government plans to establish 55 new processing and packaging units across the state. The central government has approved significant subsidies for these units under the mission.

Key Features of the Initiative

The Directorate of Agricultural Engineering currently has no registered manufacturers for units with a capacity of 300 kg per hour. To address this, the department has invited new manufacturers to provide the required capacity. Interested dal producers must register on the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) portal to participate in the scheme.

This initiative aims to help farmers secure better prices for their crops. It will also create new employment opportunities in the state. By processing pulses locally, costs will decrease, and Madhya Pradesh aims to become a leading state in pulse production.

Wider Agricultural Context

The agricultural sector in India is anticipating the upcoming Budget 2026. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget for the financial year 2026-27 in February. Farmers are hopeful that the budget will address their income concerns and support agricultural growth.

In related news, those involved in dairy farming and milk trade should note recent developments. Many people in rural and urban areas start milk businesses without restrictions. The government is focusing on regulating and supporting these sectors to ensure quality and safety.

Indian Tractor Industry Milestone

The Indian tractor industry has achieved a historic milestone. For the first time, domestic tractor sales have surpassed 1 million units in a single financial year (FY'26). The industry expects further growth as the final month of the financial year approaches.
