The state government has received proposals for the development of 15 modern bus stations, including Ayodhya Dham, Varanasi Cantt, and Charbagh bus station in Lucknow, under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. These innovative bus stations will feature terminals and commercial complexes housing restaurants, shopping malls, food courts, theatres, and both A.C. and non-AC waiting halls.

Key Features:

The envisioned bus stations will offer passengers a range of amenities, including parcel rooms, cloakrooms, ATMs, post offices, police booths, and medical emergency services. Bids were initially sought for 18 bus stations in October, with proposals received for 15, aligning with the government's plan to develop modern bus ports in multiple phases.

Contracts for the development of five bus stations were already awarded to private developers in June of the previous year, marking progress in the state government's vision. The bus stations will follow the DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate, and transfer) model, approved by the cabinet in November 2022.

Strategic Locations:

These development initiatives cover 23 bus stations across 16 districts, including Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Bareilly, Meerut, Hapur, Aligarh, Ayodhya, and Gorakhpur. The phased approach underscores the government's commitment to upgrading transportation infrastructure across the state.
