Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has announced that Andamuthu Ponnusamy will take over as the Head of its Bus Business. Ponnusamy has been with the company since 2011 and brings over 35 years of experience in the automotive industry, particularly in operations management.

Career Highlights

Ponnusamy has had a significant impact on DICV over the years. Here are some of his key contributions:

• Truck Assembly Operations: He was instrumental in setting up the truck assembly operations from the very beginning. His leadership in this area has been vital for DICV's growth.
• Operational Excellence: In 2016, Ponnusamy became the Head of Cab Production and Truck Operating Systems. During his tenure, he made notable improvements in operational excellence.
• BharatBenz BS6 Implementation: He led the planning and execution of the BharatBenz BS6 truck range when the new regulations were implemented in India.

Integration and Growth in Bus Production

In 2021, Ponnusamy was given the additional responsibility of Head of Bus Production, along with his role in Truck Cab Production. He successfully integrated the bus business with truck operations and led a capacity ramp-up for fully built buses. This resulted in a significant increase in production.
