Allison Transmission has successfully delivered over 10,000 units of its 1000 xFE fully automatic transmissions to Hyundai since 2020. These transmissions power the Hyundai Mighty, a 2.5- and 3.5-ton light-duty truck that leads the market in South Korea.
In the past four years, the percentage of Hyundai Mighty trucks equipped with Allison's fully automatic transmissions has surged from 10% to 50%. The milestone of the 10,000th truck was marked by a delivery to Unchang Logitec, a top Korean logistics company serving South Korea’s largest laundry service provider.
"Driving through city traffic and highway jams is much easier with automatic vehicles," said Kim Dae-sung, Director at Unchang Logitec. "The Allison-equipped Mighty trucks are comfortable, fuel-efficient, and durable, making them perfect for our needs."
The Hyundai Mighty trucks have seen increased demand due to their driving comfort, fuel economy, reliability, and productivity. These trucks are used in various roles, including pickup and delivery, cargo transport, waste collection, firefighting, and specialty services.
"We are excited about the success of Allison-equipped Hyundai Mighty vehicles," said Heidi Schutte, Allison Transmission Vice President EMEA, APAC & South America Sales. "The popularity of fully automatic transmissions in Asia highlights the superior driving experience and performance our transmissions provide."
The Allison 1000 xFE™ transmission offers improved launch performance, increased productivity, smoother shifting, easier operation, and enhanced driver comfort compared to manual and automated manual transmissions (AMTs). It uses a patented torque converter that eliminates the need for clutch replacements, resulting in greater economic value and reduced downtime.
With these advanced features, Allison Transmission continues to lead the way in delivering high-performance, reliable, and comfortable driving experiences for commercial vehicles.
